All Clean!

All Clean! I smell like roses and my coat gleams and shines...

What a Face

Well after two baths in two days Flash is finally on the up and up. Going to the bathroom outside in his "special zone" is getting a little easier, although the neighbors always seem to want to strike up a conversation with us to give their input. He is doing great at sitting and even remembers the 'down' command which is great. I reward him with walks when he is doing good, and I haven't put the muzzle on him in 2 days, I hope that is okay...

Right now he is chillin' in the kennel, he has really turned into one laid back dog. We may be going on vacation to Newport, so we will see how he enjoys running on the beach.

Nothing Like The Smell of Bleach and Vinegar

Well, after a long day of work I arrived home to find Flash eagerly waiting my arrival in his kennel. However, as I approach something is not right... Yep - it happened. Flash decided to pee in the kennel. Now let me back up, Flash is completely potty trained and has never had one accident in the kennel. However, we have been trying a new approach in training him to get rid of his 'machismo' attitude. This involves bringing him to his designated 'Pee Zone' and telling him too eliminate. Flash is a very smart little devil and decided he is not going to submit to these new bathroom rules. After about 40 hours without going to the bathroom the inevitable has happened, get out the bleach and vinegar - it's clean up in the kennel.

But today after the mess we had a breakthrough. He finally was able to go to the bathroom in his zone, and as a reward he received a short walk. We also did an activity where I fed him food as I told him to come and repeated "Yes" a new word he is learning. He had a nice bath and was able to relax in "Place" command in his bed for the remainder of the night. See how nice it is when he cooperates?

I am hoping for more cooperation tomorrow.

A Flashback...

Flash is my dog, my best friend, my companion - but he is a complicated creature. I came across him via Lucky Dog Rescue in June of 2010. Once I saw those sweet brown eyes I had no choice but to take him in. Little did I know there was a little monster inside this dog, I call him Diablo Negro (Spanish for Black Devil) when this monster emerges. Cut to a few months later and I met Jimi Livshitz, the wonderful dog trainer. Without him I have no idea where we would be today. These are the stories of how I am turning Flash from a little monster to the sweet little captain he was bred to be.
